Packing Sauerkrut.


Ring Ring, I was very happy that Toon Huat called me. It must be about the plastic seal that I ordered. I was told it take 21 days and I am very sad about it. My sauerkrut will be ready today and I have to wait like 18 more days before I can pack them. I have buy 100 bottles but it will
not be good enough if it is not sealed. Luckily Toon Huat managed to order the plastic seals in time and they called me to go down to collect it. It is quite tricky here because I have to order a minimum of 3000 pieces of plastic seal. Or else they will not order it for me. I guess I will just have to go ahead with it.

It is so excited when I can start to pack the sauerkrut. However, very soon the excitement goes away as I start to feel tired. Packing the sauerkrut is tiring because you have to press and compress the vegetables so that they are air tight and the sauerkrut juice is enough to cover the vegetables. My forefinger got a bit blister after pressing the metal spoon for a long time. The container actually contains about 8 piece of big cabbage. I manage to pack 37 bottles of sauerkrut. The last 10 bottles are challenging as my fingers are already tired. It looks easy to pack but packing in big numbers are not easy.

The colour and taste is good. I receive very good feedback about it. But they just dun seem to understand that the sauerkrut juice left over are very nutricious an good benefits. I saw one that finish one bottle of sauerkrut in a day and carry the bottle to the sink. It pains my heart when she pour away the juice into the sink. Thus we have to educate people about drinking the sauerkrut juice. It is not just about the vegetables.

What is left after the 37 bottles are the juices left in the container. There is at least about 200ml of juice there and it is so tasty and good benefits. I am a bit stingy when I pack the sauerkrut. I always makes an effort that not too many juice cover the sauerkrut. I am just scare that the juice is not enough. The sauerkrut today smell very nice and taste very fresh. It is good sour and the vegetables are still crispy. I will prefer it to be soft and more sour but it is really depend on the individuals. I feel my stomach feeling very good after eating todays sauerkrut. It gives me a very good feeling and I am excited on my next container. I decided to use 1 purple cabbage to make the pink colour juice. It shoud be more appealing. I have to pack the next container quickly so that I can pour the remain juices over my new sauerkrut.

I believe that it wont be long that I have to buy more and more bottles. I wish my whole kitchen and all the cabinets are packed with this sauerkrut and I wish that every supermarket are packed with my sauerkrut and everybody starts eating this good and refreshing vegetable.

  2. Our next batch of sauerkrut will look more nice. The solution will be pink in colour and that is because we will be putting red cabbage together with white cabbage.
